MISSION 10

(2024 -- )

Following the completion of Mission 9, IARC unveiled the details of Mission 10, which centers on a critical objective: enabling a person to cross a 100-meter minefield within 10 minutes. In this mission, the individual faces the challenge of navigating a terrain littered with contact and influence-triggered mines.

To aid in this endeavor, the person-at-risk deploys a swarm of four autonomous aerial vehicles (drones), each weighing no more than 1 pound. These drones are directed by the individual through gestures or voice commands, scouting the path ahead to identify mines. They provide visual guidance, marking safe routes that maintain a 1-meter distance from detected threats.

The drones also have the capability to create a real-time digital map, accessible via a mobile phone, enhancing the situational awareness of the person-at-risk. Importantly, the mission emphasizes coordination, mapping, communication, and speed over advanced detection technologies.

The aerial vehicles must maintain collective awareness of surface and subsurface threats, utilizing optical infrared (IR) sensors to navigate safely. They must also demonstrate an endurance exceeding 10 minutes and effectively avoid both the person-at-risk and each other during the mission. The person-at-risk's success hinges on crossing the minefield before the 10-minute timer expires.
