Hey there, and welcome back to the blog! 👋
Today, we’re shining a spotlight on something we’re incredibly proud of the incredible women who are helping shape the future of Ascend! 🎉

At Ascend, we are on a continuous mission to grow, innovate and create something even greater every day. A thriving team is built on a foundation of diverse perspectives, broad skillsets and unique insights. We believe that is what sets us apart.
We are proud to share that over the past few years, we have seen a significant increase in the number of women in Ascend. So, to celebrate this milestone, we asked some of the amazing women on our team to share their experiences. Let’s dive in! 🚀✨
Maja is a 2nd-year Bio-Engineer student who’s been with Ascend for 1.5 years. She started as Social Media Manager in the Marketing group and is now part of the board and leads the marketing group as Head of Marketing. Beyond Ascend, she’s also made an impact as Head of Finance in her student association, Nucleus.

🔶Maja: “The most fun part of being a member of ascend has been the recruitment periods and the US trip! As Head of Marketing, the recruitment periods are big parts of my role and work- and I got to do what I’ve grown to love the most: Marketing!
I really enjoyed broadcasting and showing other students the work we do through stands, presentations, cool videos and social media, and seeing that it worked, and that we even beat last years application record was a feeling I can’t describe. Seeing the people I chose for my team become friends and work hard together, pulling through the most incredible projects together definitely has been the best part of being part of ascend.
In addition, I HAVE to mention the US competition trip last year as well! When you become part of Ascend, you know we compete against some of the best universities in the world- but I don’t think I completely realised it until we were all standing there, ready to fly our drone. After the competition me and 10 others went to New York to explore and enjoy some well-deserved vacation, which was a great way of “closing the chapter” of Team 24.”
Tilde, is a 5th year student studying Cybersecurity and Data Communication. She joined the Control group this autumn and has prior experience from the company committee in her student association.

🔶Tilde: “The best part of joining Ascend has been getting practical experience and a new perspective on the theory from my courses, while working with really cool systems and motivated people. I’ve gotten a deeper understanding of my own field and learned a lot of new things by working with students from different backgrounds!”
Denisa, is a 4th year exchange student from Romania pursuing her master’s in Embedded Systems through the EMECS program. She joined the Hardware group this autumn and has been making her mark ever since!

🔶Denisa: "Ascend is the best way for blending practicality with joy"
Siri is a 3rd year Computer Science student who joined Ascend this autumn as part of the Perception team. She’s currently working on developing the app that controls the drones for IARC Mission 10.

🔶Siri: “The best part about being at Ascend is the team. I love how everyone’s always there to help each other, whether it’s with the mission or even schoolwork”
Frida is a 2nd year informatics student who transferred from the University of Oslo to NTNU this autumn. This is Frida’s first year in Ascend as well and she has joined the autonomy group, where she’s already contributing her talents to the team!

🔶Frida: “My favorite part about being in Ascend is getting to try to solve more real-world technical challenges with a team of like-minded people. You get to learn, experiment, and build something cool together, while also getting to see the results. It is also very motivating to try to make the drones smarter for competition.”
